Drone videos and crash write ups

The following videos have been compressed to lower image/quality to make it seasier to stream. Videos have had the boring parts edited out like when a drone is stuck somewhere, you probably don't care about the 15 minutes of video looking at leaves blowing in the wind.

Erin's Austin House

Feriocious Scruffy. Also works as a dental exam.

Better views of Erin's backyard in Austin. More Scruffy, dualing drones, crash at end

Crashes

This is the first time I lost connection to the drone and I didn't really trust the return to home on lost connection, so I went out looking for it. Meanwhile, it did a return to home which raises to 300 feet to make sure it's clear of obsticles and then uses gps to return to where it took off. What I should have done when I lost connection, was wait a couple mintes because when it got to altitude and started returning, it would reconnect and I could take control back. There's also a find my drone feature and a beep it a lot to find it that I learned about when it happened. The drone connection is lost at 2:22 seconds where you can see the drone stop forward movement and start climbing, then returning. At 5 :02 you can see it try to land, but it realizes something is wrong, so it just hovers. But then the battery starts to run out at 6:30, so it does a landing anyway and then gets caught in the tree. Forturnately it was really close to my roof so I just had to climb on the roof, and reach out and grab it. No falling damage.

feb 2023 crash behind my house

Mike's house area

neighborhood behind my house before being built out.

neighborhood behind my house about 1 year later, cool shadow landing at end.

Wyoming bed-n-breakfast

Area around bed n breakfast near yellowstone

more bnb, Gary flying

drone can handle up to 25mph winds, but when you see it pointed at us, it was tilting like 30% on its own to try and fight the wind. Should have gotten an external picture of it from my phone. Dave flying. Wind was too high during takeoff, and flipped before getting up in air. Landed on car.

Diane and Joe's Oklahoma plantation

Unfortunately some dirt got in the gimble which stabilizes and controls camera direction. I didn't know how fix at the time but later gooogled a solution where you basically blow on it a lot from different angles, and it recovers.

Took off, but for some reason, it wouldn't fly more than 50 meters away and of course the camera is hosed so it was really hard to land when I couldn't point the camera down.

camera started working better on it's own, took off near she-shed at top of hill. I know Erin and Mary both tried the drone, but forgot who was flying each time

camera still stuck, but Erin made it into a jousting contest since you can't move the camera up and down.

Erin and Brett's neighborhood in Denton

found instructions on internet that dust particles mess up the camera so the landings in OK into a bunch of decaying leaves reallllly didn't do it any favors. Need a launch pad or learn how to hand launch.

Erie Pennsylvania ( spooooooooky ... eeeeerie )

starting from bed n breakfast, heading north to lake erie. You can see some ice flows on the lake, but it isn't solid, so you can't snow mobile to Canada. ;(
